Originally from Australia and now living and working in Devon, Anicca O’Nions is a jewellery designer-maker with a passion for materials, colours, textures and artistic inspiration.

Anicca loves to work with semi-precious stones, sterling silver, Hill Tribe silver and precious metal clay to create her wonderfully unique jewellery. Every piece is beautifully handmade and working with precious metal clay (otherwise known as fine silver) enables Anicca to have complete creative control over her work.

Many of Anicca’s pieces are made using Karen Hill Tribe beads, a fair trade product from Northern Thailand. They are beautifully handmade and unique containing a higher amount of silver (95 - 99 %) than in sterling silver (92.5 %). This higher silver content enables them to be manipulated by hand into wonderful shapes using centuries-old techniques known only to the Karen Hill Tribe. Most pieces are oxidized intentionally to create a three-dimensional look and no two pieces are exactly the same because of this handcrafted quality.

Anicca also uses fine silver coated Greek ceramic beads, made from clay formed and fired in a kiln, applied with a copper coating and fired again. Next a layer of fine silver is applied before the beads are kiln fired for a final time. This process fuses the metal to the bead and makes the coating exceptionally hard-wearing with a wonderful silver shine and it also does not irritate people with any metal sensitivities.
