“What a fantastic name for such fabulous things! We love the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the inspiration for the name of Dawn’s textile label, and think it’s very fitting for her Vintage style. Welcome to Swanky Audrey’s Cat!” Emma & Cath, Swanky Maison.

Textile designer, Dawn Witt, has been having a love affair with vintage fashion since she was in her teens and she is now completely addicted to sourcing and creating with Retro and Vintage fabrics. Dawn has always created her own handmade fashion, home accessories and gifts and so setting up her own business was an inevitable step.

Like many of the successful UK designer-makers featured on Swanky Maison, Dawn started out selling her creations to friends and family before progressing to launch a fully fledged business.

Dawn participates in Vintage themed evenings, parties and events (which sound like a great way to spend a few hours!) allowing her to promote her collections and run a business that fulfils her creativity, shares her enthusiasm for retro design with others and , last but not least, fits with her family life.

Dawn favours Vintage fabrics in her creations and loves the textile designs and colours of the 50s , 60s and 70s. Using rare Vintage fabrics also adds to the uniqueness of each item. Dawn takes great satisfaction from taking a piece of fabric that has lain unused for up to 50 years and turning it into something that can be treasured today. Each of Audrey’s Cat's handcrafted animals is truly a piece of Retro ReBorn.

The name for Dawn’s business, Audrey’s Cat, is inspired by her admiration for style icon Audrey Hepburn and her love of cats. It is also a reference to one of Audrey Hepburn’s classic films ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s where ‘Audrey’s Cat’ features a far bit, especially at the end . (although, if you were being picky it should then be ‘Holly Golightly’s Cat’).
