Babatude is the brainchild of two great friends, Joanna Barclay and Louisa Mills. The pair have successfully developed a brand for ‘babies with attitude’, creating beautiful, luxury clothing and accessories for babies, toddlers and small children. The Babatude collection has been designed to be both special and practical, with a hint of cheekiness and a fun attitude thrown in!
The initial inspiration for Babatude came from Louisa’s Ma who devotedly made the most wonderful clothes for her grandchildren.

Following such a great example, Joanna and Louisa have rejected mass-produced, stiff and scratchy clothes in favour of these lovely limited collections, made using pure organic cotton, soft and light cashmere, and wool.

Every item in the Babatude collection is designed in the UK by Joanna and Louisa and then individually handmade, with great care by companies who share their strong commitment to quality.

Cool in summer and warm in winter, Cashmere perfect for babies cuddled and safe in any season. It is also long lasting, and when well cared for, becomes softer with age. Babtude’s exclusive jumpers, playsuits, babygrows, blankets, coats and hats are made from the most precious, finest luxurious yarns.

The gorgeous cashmere items are lovingly handmade in Nepal. Every step of the production of these products, from dying the yarn through to the knit or weave through to embroidery, is individually made by hand. Joanna and Louisa have seen the whole process first hand and work closely with a fabulous family-run business whose employees have been with them for over 10-15 years.

They also use cashmere mixed with merino wool; merino is often referred to as one of the softest wools available and is excellent at regulating body temperature, especially when worn against the skin. The wool provides some warmth, without overheating the wearer.

The hand-knit designs are made in pure cotton and organic yarn and are made by knitters across South Africa using the traditional 2-needle method. There are no machines, no production lines and every item is totally unique.

Fabulous designs, created using high quality natural fibres and traditional handmade techniques, allows Babatude babies and toddlers the freedom of exploring and discovering whilst maintaining that all important a sense of style!
