Founder of Dream of Silver, Laura Swain, has been making jewellery ever since she was a young girl, starting out using beads and basic findings, later developing her skills, and finally progressing onto silversmithing. Laura is mainly self-taught but she also trained at York School of Jewellery and Leeds College of Art.

In December 2007, Laura set up her own business and launched her jewellery label, Dream of Silver, and has since been developing a successful brand and a truly stunning collection of handmade jewellery. Her aim then was, as it remains today, to create jewellery that is wearable, affordable yet handcrafted and high quality.

Her new venture proved so successful that in February 2010, Laura took voluntary redundancy from her full time marketing career to concentrate all her efforts into creating handmade jewellery.

Dream of Silver continues to grow as a distinguish jewellery label and many pieces have been featured in magazines, including ‘Wedding Ideas’, ‘Marie Claire’ and ‘Making Jewellery’.

Laura’s pieces can be enjoyed for both special occasions and every day, designed to give the wearer a sense of motivation and strength. The collection is inspired by strong positive words and how they can make us feel. Many of the words are hand stamped onto the jewellery. Modern clean lines mixed with texture and patterns make each item a gorgeous contemporary original.

All of Laura’s jewellery is handcrafted from a variety of forms of silver – sterling sheet, wire and precious metal clay – and some pieces incorporate a tiny cubic zirconia stone to add a little twinkle.

Dream of Silver also offers a collection of children’s handcrafted silver jewellery. Swarovski crystals are incorporated into some of the children’s pieces, using an array of rich colours that look lovely as they catch the light. Items in the children’s collection make perfect unique gifts, creating a lifetime of memories for little girls to treasure as they grow up.
