“Obviously, like our babies, we love all our designer-makers equally, but we do get extra excitement from discovering a talented graduate just embarking on their own label. We loved the Kate Hasted collections the moment we saw them and can’t wait to see what else this talented designer will come up with!” Emma & Cath, Swanky Maison.

Kate Hasted graduated from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 2002 with a degree in Printed Textile Design. Kate then became a freelance textile designer in order to finance her own print studio.

Kate uses a variety of techniques including shibori, silk screen printing, block printing and marbling with a wide variety of paints and finishes to create experimental abstract patterns and prints. Her designs are very striking, exhibited in galleries and national exhibitions, her work quickly gained recognition, selling in boutiques and through commission.

Kate has been developing her designs over the past nine years, producing spring/summer and autumn/winter textile print collections for the top fashion houses in New York. Kate’s hand created prints and patterns have been used as inspiration for fashion ranges and have been used as prints in menswear, womenswear and home furnishings for designers including Donna Karen, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Armarni and Banana Republic to name a few.

Also, since graduating, Kate has been very involved in creative community work, supporting adults with disabilities to be creative and learn new skills in the arts. Kate is a trustee for the disability arts agency - Dada-South and currently supports a group of adults with acquired head injuries. Kate finds that working with people in the arts allows her the o opportunity to share her skills and to gain further inspiration for her work. She feels privileged to have met and worked creatively with some fantastic individuals and groups.

In 2009, Kate went on a nine month travel inspiration break to South East Asia and Australasia. Following this adventure, Kate decided to take her work in a new direction creating fashion accessories and started her own label.

Kate creates bold and striking contemporary abstract prints and patterns to wear. Her debut collections, 'the london collection', consist of digitally printed cotton and silk scarves and silk fabric jewellery created from her hand marbled fabric designs which are then digitally repeated and printed onto fabric.

The 'London' collection was launched at the 2011 British Craft Trade Fair in April and received a great deal of praise and attention from buyers and visitors.

Kate Hasted prints are very striking because of the hand marbling and digital design elements involved and this makes her collections very different and perfect for those looking for a unique gift or something special for themselves.
