Loobie and boo was created by Laura Street (aka loobie), a textile artist working in the beautiful sleepy village of Braemar in the highlands of Scotland. Following her dream of running her own creative business she designs and makes by hand a range of unique and stylish gifts and accessories using the champagne of all fabrics – Harris Tweed.

Passionately proud of her Scottish heritage, Laura’s aim is to produce bright and beautiful quality items using traditional Scottish fabrics and injecting them with a fresh and contemporary twist.

Favouring the more contemporary, vibrant and vivid Harris Tweed’s available, like bubblegum pink (love it!) and bright purple, Laura produces a fabulous array of stylishly quirky and unique gifts such as handbags, glasses cases, i-phone covers, journals and bookmarks to name but a few. Every piece in the Loobie and Boo collection is both practical and fabulous!

Polka dot cotton fabrics and ditsy vintage floral prints are used as linings for handbags and complement the colourful tweed’s beautifully. Buttons, ribbons and fancy trimmings also feature heavily in all Laura’s designs.

Her style consists mainly of appliqué work and freehand machine embroidery meaning that no two products are ever the same – each piece is unique. All Laura’s quirky and whimsical designs come from her own sketches and doodles Nature is clearly her main inspiration – birds, flowers, insects, trees and animals all dominate her designs, with a few West Highland Terrier’s thrown in for good measure. The Terrier is modelled on Angus, Laura’s Westie puppy who keeps her company all day as she sews.

All her work is produced to a high standard with great attention to detail. All smaller items come presented on their own handmade display card decorated with mini buttons and ribbon trim. Every product sent out in the post is lovingly gift wrapped and tied with ribbon and a wee card.

Laura says: ‘I think the little details are really important and going that extra mile is worth it if it puts a smile on someone’s face. I think people can really tell when you’ve put your heart and soul into something and they appreciate it all the more’. And we couldn’t agree more!
