Taught by her grandmother to sew at an early age, the birth of Kate’s son in 2006 prompted Kate to reinvigorate her passion for sewing and needlework. Suddenly immersed in the ‘baby world’, she was constantly finding children’s clothes and accessories where she thought “I could make that” and so she did!

The break from full-time employment provided a bit of breathing space and the stream of Christenings and birthdays provided endless opportunities to experiment with unique handmade gifts.

In 2007, Kate decided to turn her passion into a business and one kool kid was born. Kate has been making these popular cushions and aprons ever since and they never fail to delight the children for whom they are a gift, or their parents.

Kate tries to create designs that are striking, colourful and, above all, fun. Functional designs combined with soft but hard-wearing fabrics and a beautiful finish make a winning combination. All designs can incorporate a personalised touch to make them extra special.

Mindful of environmental issues, Kate tries to source as much of her materials as possible from Fairtrade or organic producers but doesn’t let this compromise the overall colour scheme or design of the product.
