Founder of Rios Rocks, Mo Goodfield, trained as an Architectual Technician and has worked as a designer for over thirty years, designing furniture, interiors, giftware and more recently, handmade jewellery.

Mo has a passion for design and has always ‘crafted’ as a means of relaxation. From sewing to floristry, Mo just loves to create things but it wasn’t until 2008 that making jewellery became a serious interest.

It all started when Mo was looking for a necklace to go with a dress she was to wear to a Christmas ball. Unable to find what she wanted, Mo was disappointed until she stumbled upon craft magazine with an image of the perfect necklace on its front cover. It was the ‘make of the month’ and, although it wasn’t a design for beginners, Mo decided to have a go and sent away for the required parts. After a few false starts, Mo mastered it and still has and wears the piece today.

From this point onwards, Mo began making jewellery for pleasure, researching UK suppliers, techiniques, materials and scouring the internet for information. Very soon friends and family started commissioning pieces and, when money started to exchange hands, Mo decided she’d better register as a business.

Using only high quality materials, sourced within the UK, Mo creates stylish and sophisticated handmade jewellery in Sterling Silver, semi-precious stones, pearls and Artisan-made Lampwork Glass, made by Rob Johnson from Upwell on the Norfolk/Cambridge border.

Mo loves Rob Johnson’s work and in particular his new range of beads made from Sea Glass – the romanticism of where the glass may have come from and the way they look plain but on closer inspection you see the bubbles and natural inclusions.

Working from a workshop in her Wiltshire home, Mo continually strives to create new designs, continues to learn new techniques and loves the rush of a fresh challenge. As with everything she does, Mo gives 110% commitment to designing and creating her stunningly original handmade jewellery. The results speak for themselves.
