Sparrow Primitives is a small family business based in rural Wales. All their creations are lovingly handmade at home and they continually strive to make their home decorations to the highest standard by using the best quality materials available and by paying a great deal of attention to detail.

The inspiration for Sparrow Primitives’ creations comes from the American pioneer women who would make home decorations, clothes and toys from what little scraps they could find, be it from old clothing, quilts and even feedsacks. Often incorporating wood off cuts, old tin and nails – basically anything left sitting idle. These resourceful women would take what little they had to hand to create wonderful pieces. Clothing, home decorations and toys would be handed down through the family, patched up and mended along the way. Nothing was wasted, something we could all learn a lot from today!

This creativity soon developed into an art form in its own right and there has been a recent rise in popularity for this primitive style, as people look to add warmth, charm and individuality to the modern home.

Sparrow Primitives’ modern equivalents are beautifully detailed works of art created using high quality 100% cotton, rather than scraps. Their pieces are all high quality, made to last and retain all the character of the founding works that have helped this art form endure the centuries.
