The Wooden Ladybird Company is a real family affair, run by husband and wife team, Lynn and Stephen Bainbridge. Lynn is the creative genius who loves thinking outside the box to create new and unique occasion stationary, accessories and gifts. Stephen helps to make her ideas a reality and to grow the business whilst their young son, James, is ‘inspirer’ and ‘chief tester’ of the products they make for their children’s collection. They even rope in Lynn’s brother who is a skilled joiner, as and when required.
The couple founded The Wooden Ladybird Company soon after they were married. In fact it was their very own wedding, and Lynn’s creative ideas for her own big day, that inspired them to start the venture and started others commissioning them to make their own wedding day special.
Lynn and Stephen were married in the Autumn and wanted to incorporate strong autumnal reds into their wedding colours. The bridesmaid wanted green and soon they were working up ideas with a spectrum of Autumnal colours and the theme came together nicely, even featuring ladybirds within their stationery and accessories – thus the name of the company!
Based in a small village outside of Newcastle upon Tyne, residing in an old pit miner’s cottage overlooking a golf course, Lynn and co. create lovingly handmade and unique wedding and special occasion stationary, place settings, favours, and gifts.
The Wooden Ladybird Company is driven by the passion to provide high quality, handmade items at affordable prices - little treasures not on the high street. The team revel in the positive comments they receive from delighted brides, bride grooms and guests, all of whom appreciate the care and attention that goes into making each client’s day so special. One bride even reported making her mother-in-law-to-be cry when she presented her with a handmade wooden heart shaped wedding invitation in a beautiful gift bag (happy tears, we hasten to add!)
Lynn from The Wooden Ladybird Company says: “Our products are different because we are always trying new techniques and we always have something new in the pipeline. We were the first company in our region to provide wooden wedding stationery and craft packs. We were also the first company in our region to provide ‘fortune teller’ menus/order of service/mad libs and we plan to carry on the tradition of being the first company to offer new products for many more years!”
