About Jenniferclare

"Jennifer and Clare make such a great team and their enthusiasm for their creations is evident in the beautiful designs, materials and finish - all their work is truly lovely and a welcome addition to the Swanky Maison collection." Emma & Cath, Swanky Maison.

JenniferClare was founded in 2009 by mother (Jennifer) and daughter (Claire) who live in a beautiful part of Kent and are both very creative, with backgrounds in textiles, art and design - it's in their genes!

Believe it or not, deciding on the name for their business took some time. They drew up a long list of potentials but, knowing that their company would be their likes, their designs and their creations, they settled on JenniferClare - and why not!?

Recuperating from a potentially serious health issue, Jennifer realised that life is too short for regrets and that she didn't ever want look back over her life and say 'if only I had done...' Having always dreamed of running her own textile design operation, she decided it was high time she, with help from her daughter, gave it a go.

JenniferClare started selling their creations at craft fairs, specialising primarily in cushions, and spent that whole first summer designing, hunting out beautiful fabrics and trims and sewing for England!

When the postman arrived with two huge boxes filled with once hundred cushion pads, the sight of him trying to push the boxes through the front door from one side and both Jennnifer and Clare pulling from the other must have been rather comical.

Faced with so many boxes they did begin to question whether they had overestimated their stock levels but by the time their first craft fair arrived in November 2009 all worries had subsided and their efforts were rewarded. They had also even added greetings cards to their range - as a last minute addition really - and were thrilled when these proved to be really popular, even taking a commission for a bespoke wedding card.

Right from the very beginning, both Jennifer and Clare have been genuinely passionate about every aspect of their business - finding inspiration from everything around them, coming up with ideas, designing, sourcing (locally whenever they can) and creating - and their aim always is to offer beautiful, unique, handmade home accessories, using quality materials and made to their very high standards.

Jennifer told us "we still think of one of the first items we sold, when that person was deciding which colour-way of bunting to choose, saying how pretty it would look in her summer house. That thought - that someone was spending their hard earned cash on something we had created, to put in their home - gave us such a sense of pride then and still does now, every time we sell something or even if someone just gives us lovely comments".

Clare added "we're proud that our products are different to many available in a lot of stores or online, as every part of the process is carried out by us - from the original idea and design, searching out just the right fabric and embellishments, right through to making. All this creates a unique and truly handmade item, each one of which we are really pleased with and hope our customers will be too".
