Malooshi use the traditional and remerging art of crochet with a modern twist, appliquéing their crochet designs to cushions to create a truly original effect. Founders, Sylwia Peczak and Joanna Kociuba form a great artistic union and they have been inspiring each other ever since they first met, some three years ago. Sylwia has a Masters Degree in Building construction and worked for Diageo and Citibank. However, it wasn't until Sylwia moved to the UK, that she decided to fulfil her passion for art and went to university in London to study firstly Interior Design and then Art. Meanwhile, Joanna attended a very prestigious Catholic university in Lublin, Poland, and graduated with a Masters Degree in History of Art.

Although from different backgrounds both Sylwia and Joanna were taught to crochet at a very young age by their respective grandmothers, when they would make outfits for their dolls. This skill, and their passion for it, remained with them throughout their childhoods and adult lives and they now apply it to their wonderfully nostalgic creations.

Drawing on their childhood, many of Sylwia and Joanna's designs are based on traditional fairytales and classical children's stories, creating magical timeless cushions appealing to both children and adults alike.

Drawing out the designs first, then creating the pattern and playing with colours before finishing the crochet, Jovia Art put so much love and thought into their work, ensuring that every piece is perfect and, because they're handmade, every cushion is an original.

Furthermore, Malooshi only use natural, child-friendly fabrics (mostly pure linen sourced from the oldest factory in Europe) and high quality yarns that are soft to touch and safe for washing
